If you’re an expecting mother this is an exciting time in your life. It can also be a trying time as your body courses through its myriad of chemical and physiological changes causing your body to morph.  The benefits of pre-natal exercise are numerous and include control of gestational diabetes and pregnancy-induced hypertension.  When you participate in our Mommy-to-be program here at Active Bodies we will put you through a program to help keep you and your precious unborn baby healthy and fit throughout the term of your pregnancy.

New Mommy

We here at Active Bodies would like to extend our congratulations on your new bundle of joy!  After you’ve had an appropriate amount of recovery from delivering your baby, you’re ready to get involved in an exercise program.  Let’s get you back on track to where you were pre-pregnancy….or better!  If you find yourself inseparable from your new baby, we will simply devise a workout plan that includes the both of you!  But, bear in mind that the female body will return back to normal at its own pace, and initially it might be more prudent to focus on improving your health and wellness.  The toning and firming will soon follow.

With an ever increasing senior and active adult community there is an equally growing need for this segment of our population to participate in some form of exercise.  As we reach retirement age we significantly lose some of the abilities that we have relied on our whole lives such as balance, stability and overall strength.  Here at Active Bodies we offer exercise programs to offset the effects of aging and improve your health and well-being.  Our programs can reverse the effects of osteoporosis and improve bone density, as well as, restore your confidence to perform ordinary household tasks like, opening a jar or placing a box on a tall shelf!

Some medical conditions that require special considerations and care during an exercise routine are diabetes, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) prenatal, metabolic syndrome (obesity), asthma and cardiovascular disease.  Sometimes these conditions require a medical clearance from your doctor.  Once we’ve established your limitations we can begin the careful process of devising your workout routine.

This 45-minute session breaks the mold of conventional exercise programs. It is a blend of resistance training, cardiovascular conditioning, body stabilization and core development using dynamic body movements to transform the body and maximize calorie burning – during AND for hours after the workout. Any given workout can utilize kettlebells, resistance bands, battle ropes, dumbbells, TRX, sandbags, and whatever else we can find all while employing a timed-interval format.

It’s a challenging workout where all levels of fitness are welcome to participate. If the body is not challenged it will not transform. That said, we do not expect you to be in great shape when you first attend. Heck, that’s why we put this program together in the first place! It’s that kick in the butt you’ve been waiting for. So, work to your own ability and challenge yourself.

LOFI is a 45-minute low-impact (no hopping, running or joint-jarring movements) high-intensity workout. Similar to it’s HIFI sibling this class will have you crawling, pushing, pulling, lifting, holding, twisting and screaming. It employs various timed intervals (you never know which interval sequence until you arrive) to burn a boatload of calories, not only during the workout, but for hours afterwards.

This class is designed with beginners and older adults in mind. The low-impact exercises help to lower the risk of aches & pains in the joints during the workout. Therefore, you can focus on the workout and allow the muscles to take all the suffering…in a good way!

You will go through a series of dynamic body movements using anything and everything we have available during the workout. Work at your own pace. Let your body acclimate to the program. The more often you show up the better your body adapts. After a few workouts you can really crank it up to burn off those pesky extra calories.

Remember, just because it is low impact does not mean it’s low intensity. You will see amazing improvements in your fitness levels and your waistline.

This tclass is specifically designed with our active adult members in mind. Zumba is typically a fast-paced hi-tempo fun workout that really makes you sweat. However, our 55+ Silver Zumba version is adapted for our elder members to provide an enjoyable Zumba experience.
